Melbourne air traffic controller recruit Zerah Gordon has passed the all-important final phase of her challenging theory and field training with flying colours as a new “guardian of the Australian sky”.
Now, she’s one of 65 new recruits who are joining our team of 900 highly skilled controllers at 28 control towers across Australia’s busiest international and regional airports.
“I’ve absolutely loved the team camaraderie during training – everyone’s been so supportive,” Zerah said.
“I’m super proud to be a newly qualified controller – it’s sort of like getting your P plates.”
Zerah discovered a great, abiding love for aviation after first trying her hand at the hospitality, retail and automotive industries and completing a supply chain and logistics degree.
She’s ecstatic to be joining air traffic management – a fast-paced, dynamic and rewarding career for the future.
“I get to solve unique problems every day – it’s never repetitive and it’s also challenging,” Zerah said.
“Air traffic control is an amazing lifestyle choice – shift work really suits me.”
We’re always on the lookout for new talent – recruiting up to 140 trainees per year – to manage the safe and orderly flow of aircraft into, out of, and between airports throughout Australia.
