Airservices has not received any complaint from Mr Shedden regarding his recent allegations about Airservices environmental management practices at Darwin Airport. The first Airservices heard of these allegations by Mr Shedden was via the media.
Mr Shedden is a current senior fire fighter, who has been subject to a number of disciplinary actions as a consequence of inappropriate behaviour over an extended period. He formerly occupied a senior role at Darwin Airport Fire Station over a number of years with leadership and management responsibilities, and did not previously raise any concerns or sought to initiate an investigation into Airservices environmental management practices.
These claims by Mr Shedden are currently being investigated by the Commonwealth airport regulator, the Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities. Airservices takes its environmental management responsibilities very seriously and will provide the regulator with any information required to assist in its investigations.
