Airservices Australia (Airservices) offers a range of aeronautical data products in electronic format. To purchase data in an electronic format please refer to the information below. Alternatively, hard copy products can be purchased through Airservices Online Store.
Types of data available for purchase
Aeronautical data that may be ordered through this website includes Standard Data, Tailored Data and Dynamic Data. Each type of data has its own separate ordering process and Order Form.
In circumstances where you only seek to reproduce a small extract of Airservices material on a once-off basis, please email data.airservices@airservicesaustralia.com.
Standard Data
Airservices has a range of Standard Data Product Groups available for purchase as summarised in the Product Group table. Standard Data is only available in Product Groups as a whole and individual datasets within a Product Group are not available for purchase.
Example Standard Data (Sample Data) can be downloaded through the links in the Product Group table, subject to your agreement to the terms of the Sample Data Licence Agreement.

Historical Movement Data
Airservices can provide detailed Historical Movement Data relating to aircraft movements at a particular aerodrome or location, or across other criteria. This service is typically aimed at high volume requests for data.

Tailored Data
Tailored Data is data that is not provided within the Standard Data Product Groups and that Airservices may customise to meet individual customer needs.

Dynamic Data
Dynamic data consists of data that is provided or accessed dynamically (as opposed to statically) via predefined formats including the data available through the National Aeronautical Information Processing System (NAIPS). This data can include Pre-Flight Briefing, Pre-Flight Briefing Update, Location Briefing, Area Briefing, Route Briefing, General MET Forecasts, Charts, Flight Notification, Amend / Cancel Flight Notification, Flight File Directory, AvFax Update, First Light / Last Light, and GPS RAIM. These data feeds are currently available for transmission by an aeronautical fixed telecommunications network (AFTN) or direct interface.

Vertical Obstacle Data (VOD)
The Vertical Obstacle Data is not provided within the Standard Data product groups.
The following vertical obstacle data sets are available, refer to the VOD Ordering Process.
Area 1 – vertical obstacle data for Australia collected and maintained as defined in ICAO Annex 15.
Area 2 – for aerodromes having regular international operations and alternates (as listed in AIP GEN 1.2)
Requirements of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 (Cth)
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority's website notes that the International Civil Aviation Organization requires contracting States to the Chicago Convention to provide an Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) which publishes aeronautical information and charts in an Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP). Regulation 233(1)(h) of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 (Cth) requires pilots to carry aeronautical maps, charts, aeronautical information and instructions published in the AIP relevant to the route being flown and any alternate route that may be flown. Additionally, pilots are permitted to carry aeronautical maps, charts, aeronautical information and instructions if they are published by holders of an instrument of approval issued under regulation 233(1)(h) of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 (Cth).
